Full-Duplex Wireless Networks
The subject of my Ph.D. (Saint Joseph University of Beirut, 2016–2019, funded by a CNRS-L doctoral fellowship). Full-duplex communications promise to double network capacity by allowing devices to transmit and receive simultaneously on the same radio resources — at the cost of new self-interference and intra-cell co-channel interference.
I proposed scheduling and power allocation algorithms for full-duplex OFDMA networks, using optimization, heuristics, game theory, and machine learning. The work addressed user fairness, spectral efficiency, and imperfect channel state information, across scenarios from single-cell to multi-cell deployments. The results include more than a 50% increase in user equipment throughput alongside a three-fold decrease in average waiting delay, relative to half-duplex counterparts.
